The Green Wall

In Milan Enel and Temprano, sustainable landscape planning company, are working at an Outdoor Marketing project with the support of Milan City Council: the first Green Wall in Italy.

But this is also an European record, as this will be the first wall to apply alternative energy.

This is the claim: "Our commitment to the environment does not stop even in front of a wall". In Corso di Porta Ticinese 93, Milan, there is a large wall that has become a 400 square metres vertical garden with 180 selected different plants.

The plants were chosen considering their aesthetic impact and low maintenance, as well as their resistance to climate change all year around.

With the solar panels, the Green Wall will be self-sufficient, as it can be lighten up in the evening and watered when necessary - producing about 1270 kilowatt per hour every year and saving 750 kilos of carbon dioxide from their emissions in the environment.

Enel, with its Environment and Innovation Project, will invest in research 7.4 billion euros - from now to 2012.

The project will be officially launched on June 5th - the World Environment Day.

Enel promotes its commitment and ONU launches Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon Economy.
